It was only a matter of time before I decided to tackle a MGS Rising box. It's taken me over 3 hours. I made it clear to myself not to use that infamous E3 2009 render. I tried to go for a nice consistent computer coding and blue theme. The longest part was possibly rendering Raiden - the image on the front. I had to fix his hair as it'd been cut off in the actual source image. I also added some lighting/smoky touches to add to the overall effect.

Please leave some feedback. Don't forget to check out my other boxes if you like what you see! :D Thank you for viewing.

The best Rising box on the site, finally one that doesn't use that same render on the front.

This is pretty incredible man, great lighting on the back. Actually makes the game look like it could be good.

The three Kojima logos oddly stick out.

Thanks for the great feedback so far everyone, much appreciated.

#8, I was actually considering to recolour them. Though I thought it need some contrasting things to stop it blurring into one.

#10, Yep

I notice you have great color coordination, although I think it was a good choice to keep the original colors of the Kojima logos. Like you said, if they were blue I wouldn't even know that they were there unless I zoomed in.

The blue looks great for this game which makes this cover different from other MGS:R covers on the site.

#14, xD I just try to power through a box in one sitting - while the creativity is flowing.

Thanks for the great feedback. I'm glad you all like the colour scheme.

#16, I power through boxes too, but I'm nowhere near your skill.

Not having the overused render of Raiden really makes this box stand out, I think. The colors flow very nicely together, and the layout of everything is very well done. I love it. :D

mazing box, I like the blue coloring and the computer theme. Only thing if you can tune down the reflection a bit, it's getting confused with the box.

Very nice cover. The presentation however looks retarded. I don't like the big spine or the template you used. It is nothing major. I just don't care for it.

#23, it's a digipack style box. I think it's much more interesting that the normal casing.

#24 Ok, I know it's a silly question but: Are there templates for those digipack boxes?

#25, I'll see about making a printable soon.

#26, it's just the normal PS3 template. Mine is a custom variant on the official template, but there's no large difference. Basically, just increase the spine width and skew/scale for a 3D box effect. There's not a lot to it.

#28, also, you might want to add some lighting/shadowing to make it look more realistic and 3D.

I Can't compete with this MGS Rising Boxart.
(my MGS Rising box hiding in shadow....) :)

Deserves the MW, just Like Angelina Jolie her role in Tomb Raider ;)

I'd really like to see a printable version of this box?

[ Reply ]

avatar
Joeseye 47 [ 1 decade ago ]

Printable finally added! There's quite a lot of differences in the printable compared to the actual box, simply to make better use of space and to meet the requirements of an official boxart. There's substantially more on the back of the printable - it's worth a look. This is why I've generally avoided making one.

Anyway, I hope you like it and I'd love to see it in an actual Playstation 3 box. I also want to read your thoughts. Thanks again.

#41, Don't really mind that you've made some changes for the printable, you got you reasons for it.

It still looks great ;)

it would look cool on an official box, maybe someone can post a picture of the real box?

Thanks for making a printable :)
