This one took a few hours. Because he was a very strong influence on the game's art style, I modified two of Hokusai's most famous prints for the front and back; art historians probably recognize both, though 'The Wave' is undoubtedly his most well known work. Rendered the characters myself from some promo art. It's definitely one of my favorite boxes.

And let me preempt any comments about the platform: with the HD No More Heroes port confirmed for the 360 and PS3, Marvelous Entertainment has mentioned the consideration to port Muramasa as well.
The front nails the Criterion style perfectly. The Red Fuji artwork is, of course, stunning, and seems fitting. The back, however, seems unorganized, and if I were you, I would restructure it and put the focus on info about the game. So I'd suggest you put a synopsis text and a "special edition features" section on there. Play around with the Hokusai artwork and try to integrate it into the design, rather than making it the focal point on the back.
#3, Yeah I tried fitting in a full description and other stuff but I couldn't get the text to look right on top of the wave. So rather than cluttering it I decided to make it all about the visual--just to clarify that the game is art in motion just like Odin Sphere before it. I'm gonna revisit this eventually and probably try to work in a screenshot or two without disrupting the flow.
#5, I actually wouldn't put a screenshot in, Criterion boxarts usually don't have that. I also wouldn't put a description on the Wave. Try to make the wave fit into the rest of the design. Maybe you could put the text into a black box or something like that.
No, it didn't come out fine. The front is still just one of the official backgrounds stretched to fit.
And the back is messy. Text is ugly and stretched, grammatical errors here and there, bad color choice
#8, We aren't looking at the same box, are we? Even if that is an official image used on the front, that's perfectly permissible. It happens all the time in official boxes, too.
The only (unimportant) issue I have on the box is that it states the game is for PS3, which it isn't, it's on the Wii.
#10, Nah see ecnos1 did a MW2 box with an official background stretched to fit a template. He got sore and copied and pasted MY comment here onto my box.
Nope, the front on this one is from scratch. A modified Hokusai print with self rendered characters.
And as I mentioned in the OP, the chances of this being on PS3 are quite good considering that No More Heroes has been confirmed for an HD port. A few searches will tell you that Marvelous Entertainment is very interested in the prospect of a PS3/360 port of Muramasa.
#22 & #23, Wow--you obviously have absolutely no life at all if you have the commitment to create two separate accounts just to troll on vgboxart.com. And yes, a child is the ONLY person who would say "go rape a donkey you homo" because a child is the ONLY person whose grasp on the English language is so horrible that he can't think of a better insult.
#24, I really wish that idiot would give it up. Well, at least on the other hand he's allowing your box to be seen again. Too bad he's too stupid to figure out he actually did you a favor.
#24, he must really hate you for commenting(the truth) on his/her box because he is probaly just a snob who thinks he is the best or he is just an idiot.
#27, Yeah Hokusai is one of my favorite artists. I only just recently started to study his work but I've yet to see one of his prints that I didn't like.
#29, you won't. He really was/is a legendary artist. I'm saying "is", because his work still is so influential, and especially "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" is copied and/or featured in lots of pieces by other artists.

The characters really pop against the traditional art. I like this quite a bit. :)

#18, I'm telling you now, I'm going to report you to the mods for your abuse. There's no reason for you to act so rude and childish.
As for #12, You have made a valid point for you making this cover PS3. Either way, you did great on this.

Ignore the troll guys.
This is seriously one of the best boxes I've seen in a long time. You should be proud of this.

Exceptional box.
I love how the front and back flow right in to each other, and you can't go wrong with Hokusai.
