So, with a few awesome Link To The Past boxes already on the site, why go the way of the many?
Well, I really hadn't planned to work on anything anytime soon as far as boxart goes, but I was playing around a little bit with photoshop the other day and started doing a little work with gold. And I thought, "Hey, this would look good with a Zelda game." Now Zelda, Zelda 2 and OoT all had gold box designs and gold carts, but LttP for some reason did not. And so, here I am...
I tried to keep the front simple, and quite like the original box. Most of what you see is simply template re-creation, which was easy since my template is from scratch. For the blue, I tried to recreate a "holographic" look, much like the Pokemon cards.
This was a bit of fun to make, and I managed to get through it pretty easily as I already had in my mind what I wanted to accomplish. Just a little bit more SNES fun for you all to enjoy! Your comments and such are appreciated!
I want this to be real. I love the...everything on this box.
#4, I'll agree, but you gotta admit mine is up there, too! (definitely NOT advertising, as it's already got it's HoF the day I released it, this just made me think of it.)
You managed to capture the beauty and epicness of this game very well. I've always said that Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game, and you have done it justice. And the gold is just epic as hell. The template, the cartridge, all of it. I agree with tleeart, the lens flare makes it.
#5: Hahaha, that's funny as hell! I wonder if that actually helped sell games... It's such an epic game, I wonder why they would do something like that. Ah well!
Thanks for the support so far everyone! ^_^
And by the way, I love the "SHING!" Somehow, that really sums up the entire image!
#5, so it all makes sense now, Link is a woman. i get it now, no guy is gonna go saving some chick from a million times, they must have some kind of BFF thing. i think its completely different for mario though, he's just a stalker of worlds lookin to get "some" for saving the princess over and over...
On a design standpoint, the box and presentation are absolutely flawless. From the beautiful parchment textures on the back, to the screens set up in alignment with the triforce, this piece truly showcases your impeccable eye of graphic design. I am of course in agreement with everyone else's love for the "shinginess" of the gold as well.
Well, I am impressed. This hasn't even left the front page yet!
#10: I knew that to pull this off and to make it different from the others on the site that the design had to be kept simple but elegant. Free from characters, etc... but still iconic. Luckily, for me, the triforce is really all you need! Muwahahaha! The symmetry on the back really helps with that, too. Once I finished the actual design, I knew that presentation was everything. It had to equal the elegance of the design. I'm glad that I was able to convey that.
#14: If you are referring to Din, Nayru and Farore, then yes. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to explain that statement. =P
