Hopefully you guys don't feel like this one is weak, like my last. This one I poured a lot more effort and thought into.
Credit goes to Vt-102 on The Cover Project for the template.
I googled for the screens, the QSound logo, and the wallpaper edited for the background (As in behind the box).
I created all the rest of the artwork in 3D Studio Max and/or Photoshop and scanned a cd case for the plastic.
Basically the front is supposed to be a direct remake of the official, but in 3D. The back of the original was so boring, I just winged it and made my own.
I worked on it for about 4 days, please let me know what you think!
Very nice, it seems to me that you put lots of work into it. The only thing I don't like is that the background (as in behind the box xD) looks kinda cheap to me. Other than that, it's pretty awesome.
I still don't like this sudden obsession with making your own art... Drakxxx did it, got some faves, and now everyone's doing it to try and hop on the "effort" bandwagon. All you did was copy the official box... so from a design standpoint it's nothing original. But regardless of effort, I still don't like your new-found attempts to copy Drakxxx's style. I liked your boxes much better before.

He's one of the first here, so yeah, I guess in a sense I am, but it was always a plan of mine to try and break away from dependency somewhat on official art and do something unique. The front is a copy, but I put quite a few hours into making the 3D models involved. As for the back, which you didn't even comment on, I made that completely my own. Again, I'm sorry you aren't into it, the next couple I do won't be original art, so I guess you will like those more...
It's always nice to see that people made their own stuff to put in thei box, Koopa. It's not that great, but he isn't using things which were pre-drawn. I think it's nice to see this sometimes, tleeart, but not THAT much. You realy have a lot of creativity though, and this was really hard to make wasn't it? =P
#6, Well, my next one is not of the original art variation, So I hope you like my next, I think it has the potential to be good.
I don't know if it was really hard, but I did try hard. The hardest part was figuring out the loop, oddly enough. My favorite part of this box is the Metal Sonic, I had the most fun making him.
I love the retro 3d look man! You quite multi talented!
I'm a little bummed you made the front layout exactly the same as the official, but the back more than makes up for it.
Very cool and creative.
Also, I take no claims to my style, what I do is just how I personally like to go about things. And I've only been actually active around here for the last few months, when I rediscovered this site. I signed up for account way back in the day, but never submitted much, so I definitely am not one of this site's founding members.
But anyways, be it custom art or working with official art, the most important thing is to have fun with your creativity.
#13, Sorry about the front. Me wanting to recreate the front was the reason for this happening, so it wasn't all bad, right? Maybe I'll make some more renders and make an alternate cover. If I do that, I'll make it a rerelease on PS3 or something "with updated graphics and new levels" and make new HD quality models for it.
I admit I was inspired to go ahead with original art boxes because of you, but hopefully with this I added a different twist on that idea.
This is so amazing! The 3D work is great, and I LOVE the background. Everything came together perfectly! Its a great spin on Sonic, and a very worthy boxtop. Might I add that KoopaDasher (Comment #3) has no idea what he's talking about. ^_^
